I just love Christmas lights!

Looking at Christmas lights, whether they be on my own Christmas tree, my own balcony, at my parent’s house, or even the simplicity of driving through my neighborhood, has always made me so happy. ?

This year, especially with the Covid pandemic, I feel that being a little extra festive is a priority. There is so much going on in the world, so why not make it a bit more positive?

Tim and I invited my family up to the Bull Run Festival of Lights in Northern Virginia. It is somewhat nearby where we live, and I thought it would make for a fun and joyful evening!

My family drove up to see us, quite a long way, and we spent the afternoon and evening together. We ate the delicious pulled pork that we made yesterday, (Check out this blog for the recipe!). They absolutely loved it! โ™ฅ๏ธ

Next we went to Target for a little bit, …. okay, maybe a lot, of shopping. I had so much fun just shopping around with my family, and may have spent a little more than I what I was bargaining for lol

Afterward, we all relaxed together in our condo, enjoyed pizza for dinner, and then headed out to see the Christmas Lights!!

First, I would like to say that the event is a littleee bit on the expensive side (at least for a college student!).

It is $25 per car, if you pay ahead of time. On their website, it states that you need tickets to enter, which made me think that you needed to purchase them online as there were “Sold Out” signs; however, when we arrived I noticed signs to purchase tickets for $30 a car.

We ended up buying two tickets online. If you plan to do this, you may want to try and ensure that the car you are with is following directly behind you. Or screenshot the second ticket for the second car to scan (each ticket should have its own QR code).

Once we were passed the ticket stands, the rest of the drive went smoothly! We kept a speed of about 15 miles per hour, and only slowed down a little bit when there were too many cars to see the lights on either side of the road.

It was incredible at how busy it was, but we were still able to see all of the beautiful light displays!

There were beautiful icicle lights, fun elf displays, candy themed lights, and more!

This is such a fun trip to take, but it was probably the only time that I will ever go to this specific event. The wait was long and the shops weren’t open due to Covid, so I feel like the price should have been a little bit lower.
