This past December, I accomplished one of my greatest achievements to date — I graduated with my Master of Business Administration!
I worked toward completing this program over the course of two years and it was by far the most difficult educational program I’ve taken to date. I completed this degree while working full-time and while undergoing infertility treatments (I recently starting sharing this sensitive & emotional journey on my YouTube channel). I worked very late nights – writing until 2 or 3 in the morning, had weekly meetings, some that were late in the evening due to varying time zones of team members, and experienced the occasional bouts of “how in the heck can I keep doing this program”. That being said, being able to celebrate this achievement with my family at graduation made it WORTH the effort!
I chose to study for a Master’s degree to advance my knowledge in areas of work expertise that I haven’t been able to yet experience. There are varying views on earning an MBA degree prior to being in a position that requires this in-depth expertise; however, I wanted to learn about process and procedures before entering the field so that I was personally familiar with business management, marketing management, strategic planning and more!! Also, some day, I would like to build a business and own my own store – which contributed greatly to my yearning to learn.
Throughout my MBA program, I was able to work individually, in diverse group settings, and with a multitude of peers and professors. I was taught management and business details in real-life situations and I had the opportunity to work through business decisions in a management simulator. I am looking forward to applying these newfound KSAs in future workplace settings (and one day, maybe even my own!)

As for graduation, I was able to schedule my graduation time in advance. I could only have six family members with me – otherwise I would’ve invited quite a few more people! Once we arrived, we were greeted by numerous staff members and led through a hall of graduates awaiting their turn to cross the stage and several memorabilia tables and graduation accessories and gifts!
I lined up to graduate, where they first made adjustments to my graduation gown and then directed me to pick up my name card. In the next room, I was able to line up to cross the stage while my family waited in front of the stage! My graduation time was originally scheduled for 1:15 p.m.; however, I was called back as soon as I got into line.
It felt amazing to cross the stage, take my graduation photos, and enter the graduation room! I signed the UMGC wall, took fun photos, and bought a couple of alumni themed items.
My parents ordered my graduation gift – my class ring! It is absolutely gorgeous and I received it a couple months after graduation (You’ll be seeing it on my Insta and YouTube) 🥰
Afterward, we took photos in the schoolyard and I was even stopped by professional photographers for the school to take photos. All sorts of poses and props – hilarious and so much fun!
I posted a vlog all about the day on my YouTube channel. Check it out here! 😊👩🏼🎓
Here are some photos from the day!! I found my dress on Amazon and it was PERFECT for my graduation ceremony ❤️💛 Outfit Details: Tweed Pencil Dress, Similar Pink Freshwater Pearl Earrings, Bow Flats *I may earn a small commission from items in this post if you make a purchase.
